This study employed a descriptive analysis approach, SWOT analysis, and Pearson's simple correlation method to analyze the internal and external factors that influence the development of vanname shrimp cultivation in Bogak Besar Village. The study involved three farmers who carry out vanname shrimp cultivation as respondents using the census method. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and regression analysis.
Results
The results of the study showed that there were eleven internal factors and nine external factors that influence the development of vanname shrimp cultivation in Bogak Besar Village. The internal factors include the quality of fries, feed management, and cultivation techniques applied by farmers. The external factors include government support, market conditions, and access to technology and information. The study also revealed a significant relationship between the socio-economic characteristics of farmers, production costs, and income earned.
Discussion
The results of the study suggest that the development of vanname shrimp cultivation in Bogak Besar Village requires attention to the right strategy and support to overcome various influencing factors. The study recommends an aggressive growth policy or growth-oriented strategy, which is in quadrant I in SWOT analysis. This shows the need to focus on increasing production and business efficiency in order to compete in the market. Therefore, training and counseling to improve managerial and technical skills of farmers are very important.
The analysis also revealed a significant relationship between the socio-economic characteristics of farmers, production costs, and income earned. However, characteristics such as age, education, number of dependents, length of farm businesses, and the area of ​​ponds do not show significant relationships with income. This can be an indicator that these aspects, although important, are not a major determinant in increasing the income of vanname shrimp farmers.
