Introduction
- Understanding the Importance of Basic Sanitation and Cleanliness Facilities Basic sanitation facilities are a minimum facility that must be available somewhere, which includes the supply of clean water, disposal of human waste, water drainage, and waste management. Meanwhile, cleanliness refers to a state of free from dirt, such as dust, rubbish, and unpleasant odor. Inadequacy of basic sanitation facilities and cleanliness in restaurants is one of the factors that contribute to the increase in flies. This study aims to determine the relationship between basic sanitation facilities and hygiene with the density of flies.
- Research Methodology The research method used is a cross-sectional analytical research design, with data analysis conducted univariate and bivariate using the chi-square test. The research sample consisted of 31 restaurants found in the Gunung Tua Market.
Demographic Characteristics of Restaurant Managers
- Age and Gender of Restaurant Managers The results showed that the majority of restaurant managers were in the age range of 36-45 years, with a total of 10 people (32.3%). Most managers are men, namely 20 people (64.5%).
- Education Level of Restaurant Managers The management of the manager is mostly high school graduates, with a total of 28 people (90.3%).
- Number of Employees and Operating Hours The number of employees in restaurants is generally less than 5 people (77.4%), and most of the restaurants operate more than 8 hours per day, namely 30 restaurants (96.8%).
Relationship Between Sanitation Facilities and Density of Flies
- Provision of Clean Water Facilities In terms of the relationship of sanitation facilities with the density of flies, this study found that there was no correlation between the provision of clean water facilities and the density of flies (p = 0.129).
- Disposal of Human Waste In addition, the disposal of human waste also does not show correlation (p = 1).
