The Level of Knowledge, Attitudes, and Actions of Educators Towards the Handling and Prevention of COVID-19 in Central Tapanuli Regency: A Positive Picture

Introduction

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the world of education, affecting millions of students and educators worldwide. As the spearhead in the learning process, educators play a crucial role in ensuring the health and safety of students. They are required to have adequate competence, including the level of knowledge, attitudes, and good actions related to the handling and prevention of COVID-19. This study aims to determine the level of knowledge, attitudes, and actions of educators in Central Tapanuli Regency towards the handling and prevention of COVID-19.

Methodology

This study uses a descriptive analytic method with a cross-sectional approach, involving 650 respondents chosen using the snowball sampling method. Data was collected through a closed questionnaire that was distributed online and offline in the period December 2020 to April 2021. The questionnaire was designed to assess the level of knowledge, attitudes, and actions of educators towards the handling and prevention of COVID-19.

Results

The results showed that the level of knowledge, attitudes, and actions of educators in Central Tapanuli Regency towards the handling and prevention of COVID-19 were in the good category, with a percentage of 95.4%, 97.7%, and 91.5% respectively. These results indicate that educators in Central Tapanuli Regency have a good understanding of COVID-19 and are taking necessary precautions to prevent its transmission.

Differences in the Level of Knowledge Based on the Assignment Unit

There are significant differences in the level of knowledge based on the teaching staff task unit. It is important to ensure that educators have access to accurate and up-to-date information about COVID-19. This can be done through various platforms, such as the official website of the Ministry of Health, Social Media, and Webinar.

Support and Facilities

Schools and Education Office need to provide adequate support and facilities to educators to help them implement health protocols in the school environment.

Conclusion

This study shows that the level of knowledge, attitudes, and actions of educators in Central Tapanuli Regency towards the handling and prevention of COVID-19 in general. However, it is necessary to make a sustainable effort to increase their knowledge, attitudes, and actions in order to be able to face the challenges of Pandemi better and minimize the risk of COVID-19 transmission in the school environment.
