The Influence of Transformational Leadership and Procedural Justice on Organizational Citizenship Behavior in Employees of the Delia Langkat Regency General Hospital

Introduction

The healthcare industry has undergone significant changes in recent years, including increased demand for health services, tighter regulatory demands, and shifts towards greater employee involvement. In this context, Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) has become a crucial aspect of employee behavior, as it can significantly impact the effectiveness of an organization. OCB refers to a form of employee behavior that exceeds their job description, arising from the initiative and satisfaction felt by employees. This behavior can be influenced by various factors, including transformational leadership and procedural justice.

The Importance of Organizational Citizenship Behavior

Organizational Citizenship Behavior is a vital aspect of employee behavior, as it can contribute to the success of an organization. OCB behavior includes actions such as helping colleagues, volunteering for tasks, and demonstrating a positive attitude towards work. These behaviors can have a significant impact on employee job satisfaction, motivation, and overall performance. In the healthcare industry, OCB behavior can be particularly important, as it can lead to improved patient care, increased employee engagement, and enhanced organizational reputation.

The Role of Transformational Leadership

Transformational leadership is a leadership style that emphasizes inspiring and motivating employees to achieve organizational goals. Transformational leaders are able to provide positive examples to employees, foster a sense of community and shared purpose, and empower employees to take ownership of their work. This leadership style has been shown to have a positive impact on employee job satisfaction, motivation, and performance. In the context of OCB behavior, transformational leadership can inspire employees to go above and beyond their job descriptions, leading to improved organizational outcomes.

The Importance of Procedural Justice

Procedural justice refers to the fairness and transparency of organizational procedures and policies. Procedural justice is essential in the healthcare industry, as it can impact employee trust, motivation, and job satisfaction. When employees feel that organizational procedures and policies are fair and transparent, they are more likely to be motivated and engaged in their work. Procedural justice can also impact OCB behavior, as employees who feel that their organization is fair and transparent are more likely to demonstrate positive behaviors such as helping colleagues and volunteering for tasks.

Methodology

This study aimed to identify the effect of transformational leadership and procedural justice on OCB behavior in Delia General Hospital employees in Langkat Regency. The analysis was carried out partially and simultaneously to measure the impact of the two variables on OCB behavior. The research method used was quantitative with a descriptive approach. The population in this study was all Delia General Hospital employees, with a sample of 62 respondents taken using the sampling technique according to the Slovin formula. Primary data were obtained through the distribution of questionnaires directly, while secondary data were obtained through literature studies.

Data Analysis

Data analysis was carried out by various methods, including validity tests, reliability tests, classical assumptions tests, multiple linear regression analysis, partial tests, simultaneous tests, and coefficient tests processed using SPSS version 27. The results showed that independent variables, namely transformational leadership (X1), had a positive and significant influence on the behavior of the citizenship of the organization (Y) with the value of t count of 5.464, greater than T table 2.001, and had a significance of 0.000 smaller than 0.05. Likewise, procedural justice (X2) showed positive and significant effects on organizational citizenship behavior (Y) with a t value of 6,223, also greater than T table 2.001, and a significance of 0,000 smaller than 0.05.

Simultaneous Testing

In simultaneous testing, transformational leadership variables and procedural justice jointly affected the behavior of organizational citizenship with an influence level of 67.8%. This shows that there are other factors that also influence OCB that are not examined in this study.

Conclusion

The results of this study have important implications for the management of Delia General Hospital. The findings suggest that transformational leadership and procedural justice are essential in promoting OCB behavior in employees. By applying these two concepts, employees will not only feel valued and involved but will also be encouraged to show positive behavior that contributes to the success of the organization as a whole.
