The Influence of the Social Security Program on the Benefits Received by the Workforce as a BPJS Employment Binjai Participant

Introduction

The social security program is a crucial aspect of the workforce's well-being, providing financial protection and benefits to workers in the event of accidents, death, or retirement. In Indonesia, the BPJS Employment program is a government-run social security system that offers various benefits to its participants. This study aims to examine the effect of the social security program on the benefits received by the workforce as BPJS Employment Binjai participants. By analyzing the data collected through questionnaires distributed directly to BPJS Employment participants in Binjai City, this study seeks to identify how much the benefits are felt by the workforce as participants of this social security program.

Methodology

The data used in this study are primary data collected through questionnaires that are distributed directly to BPJS Employment participants in Binjai City. The author uses a logit model with the maximum likelihood method assisted by EViews 4.1 software to analyze the data. The results of the analysis are presented in the following sections.

Results

The results of the analysis showed that several social security programs, namely Work Accident Insurance (JKK), Death Insurance (JK), and Pension Insurance (JP) have a positive influence on the benefits received by the workforce, although the influence is not significant. However, the Old Age Insurance (JHT) is proven to have a significant positive influence on the benefits received by BPJS Employment participants.

The McFadden R2 of 0.412355 indicates that around 41.23% variations in the benefits of the BPJS Employment program received by participants can be explained by independent variables namely JKK, JHT, JP, and JK. This finding shows that among the four programs studied, participants feel more benefits from old age insurance (JHT) compared to other programs.

Discussion

The significant positive influence of the Old Age Guarantee (JHT) shows the importance of this program for the workforce, especially in preparing their retirement. This program provides a sense of security and financial protection for the participants when they no longer work, so as to improve the quality of life in old age.

On the other hand, although other programs such as Work Accident Insurance (JKK), Death Guarantee (JK), and Pension Insurance (JP) also have an influence, the affectation of these influences shows the need for further evaluation of the effectiveness and socialization of these programs to the workforce. This is important to increase participants' understanding and awareness of the benefits they can receive.

Conclusion

In conclusion, this study provides an overview of the benefits received by BPJS Employment participants and highlights the importance of the Old Age Insurance (JHT) program. The findings of this study can be used as an evaluation material for BPJS Employment to improve and strengthen existing programs.
