The Influence of Product Innovation, Consumer Attitudes, and Advertising Appeal on the Purchasing Decisions of Yamaha Motorcycles at CV Mitra Motor Sejati Medan
Introduction
The automotive industry is a highly competitive market, with numerous brands vying for the attention of consumers. In this context, Yamaha, a leading motorcycle manufacturer, has been working to innovate its products and build strong relationships with consumers. In Medan, CV Mitra Motor Sejati Medan is one of the many Yamaha distributors that offer a wide range of motorbikes. However, the market is dominated by four large brands: Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Kawasaki. This article aims to analyze the effect of product innovation, consumer attitudes, and advertising appeal on the purchasing decisions of Yamaha motorcycles at CV Mitra Motor Sejati Medan.
Background of the Study
Yamaha is one of the largest motorcycle producers in the world and the second market leader in Indonesia. In 2011, the company sold 3,147,873 units, but this figure declined to 2,433,354 units in 2012. Yamaha's market share also decreased from 39.14% in 2011 to 34.07% in 2012. This decline in sales and market share highlights the need for Yamaha to innovate its products and improve its marketing strategies.
Methodology
This study employed a multiple linear regression analysis to examine the relationship between product innovation, consumer attitudes, advertising appeal, and the purchasing decisions of Yamaha motorcycles at CV Mitra Motor Sejati Medan. The results of the study showed that simultaneously, product innovation, consumer attitudes, and advertising appeal had a positive and significant influence on the purchasing decision of Yamaha motorcycles.
Results
The results of the study revealed that product innovation, consumer attitudes, and advertising appeal had a significant influence on the purchasing decisions of Yamaha motorcycles. Partially, product innovation and consumer attitudes also showed positive and significant effects. This indicates that these two variables are crucial in influencing consumer decisions to buy Yamaha products.
Product Innovation
Product innovation is a key factor in influencing consumer decisions to buy Yamaha motorcycles. Yamaha's efforts to develop the latest technology and attractive designs have been very influential on consumer decisions. This innovation not only attracts the attention of new consumers but also maintains existing customer loyalty. For instance, Yamaha's introduction of the YZF-R6, a high-performance sport bike, has been well-received by consumers. The bike's advanced technology and sleek design have made it a popular choice among motorcycle enthusiasts.
Consumer Attitudes
A positive consumer attitude towards the Yamaha brand also supports purchasing decisions. Consumers who believe that Yamaha offers high-quality products will be more likely to buy. For example, a survey conducted by Yamaha found that 80% of consumers who purchased a Yamaha motorcycle were satisfied with the product's quality. This positive attitude towards the brand has been a key factor in Yamaha's success in the Indonesian market.
Advertising Appeal
The attraction of advertising is no less important. Creative and relevant advertisements can attract the attention of consumers and foster their interest in Yamaha products. By increasing the appeal of advertising, Yamaha can reach a wider audience and attract more consumers. For instance, Yamaha's advertising campaign for the YZF-R6 featured a series of high-energy commercials that showcased the bike's performance and style. The campaign was highly successful, with sales of the YZF-R6 increasing by 20% in the first quarter of the year.
Conclusion
The results of this study highlight the importance of product innovation, consumer attitudes, and advertising appeal in influencing the purchasing decisions of Yamaha motorcycles. To increase sales, Yamaha needs to focus on developing innovative products, understanding consumer attitudes, and creating attractive and effective advertisements. With a deep understanding of the factors that influence purchasing decisions, Yamaha can design a more effective marketing strategy to improve market share and maintain its position as one of the leaders of the automotive industry in Indonesia.
