Introduction

In Simodong Village, Sei Suka District, Batu Bara Regency, efforts to promote clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS) have been ongoing, but the results have been unsatisfactory. The coverage of PHBS in the village is still below the set target, with only 28.3% of the population practicing clean and healthy living behavior. This study aims to analyze the effect of predisposing factors and social support on PHBS behavior in the local community.

Background

Clean and healthy living behavior is an essential effort to provide learning experiences in maintaining, maintaining, and improving public health. Predisposing factors, such as education and knowledge, play a significant role in influencing individuals' attitudes and actions towards health. Social support, on the other hand, can motivate individuals to apply healthy living behavior. In Simodong Village, the lack of education and knowledge about PHBS, as well as inadequate social support, may be contributing to the low coverage of PHBS.

Methodology

This study employed a survey with a cross-sectional design, involving a population of 2,113 people living in Simodong Village. A sample of 94 people was chosen using the Systematic Random Sampling technique. Data analysis was carried out using the Chi Square test and multiple logistics regression.

Results

The results of the study showed that education (p = 0.012), knowledge (p = 0.005), and social support (p = 0.019) are the three main factors that influence PHBS behavior in Simodong Village. Of the three factors, education is the most dominant factor affecting the behavior of clean and healthy life of the community.
