Introduction

Methodology

This study employed a factorial random group design (shelf) with two main factors:

First Factor: Planting Media

The planting media used in this study consisted of different compositions of soil and oil palm solid waste, specifically:

  • 100% soil + 0% waste
  • 75% soil + 25% waste
  • 50% soil + 50% waste
  • 25% soil + 75% waste

Second Factor: Provision of Liquid Organic Fertilizer

The liquid organic fertilizer was applied at different doses, specifically:

  • 0 cc/liter of water
  • 2 cc/liter of water
  • 4 cc/liter of water
  • 6 cc/liter of water

Measurement Parameters

This research observed several important parameters, including:

  • Plant height (cm)
  • Number of leaves (strands)
  • Leaf area (cm²)
  • Root volume (ml)
  • Plant length (cm)
  • Consumption of decent wet weight (g)
  • Leaf chlorophyll (unit/6mm³)
  • Dry weight of plants (g)
  • Clean assimilation rate (gm Ö¿ Ö¿ ² h)
  • Relative growth rate (gm Ö¿ Ö¿ ¹¹h)

Research Results

The results showed that the planting media had a significant effect on all observed parameters, including plant height, number of leaves, total leaf area, root volume, plant length, decent wet weight consumption, leaf chlorophyll, plant dry weight, net assimilation rate, and relative growth rate.

Conversely, the administration of liquid organic fertilizer did not show a significant effect on the growth and production of lettuce. Likewise, the interaction between planting media and liquid organic fertilizer did not have a significant effect on the observed parameters.

The Best Treatment Combination

The best combination of treatment was M3P2, which consisted of 25% soil planting media + 75% of palm solid waste with 4 cc/liter of liquid organic fertilizer. This combination showed the optimal results of growth and lettuce production.

The results of this study indicate that the use of palm oil solid waste as a planting medium has the potential to increase the growth and production of lettuce. Palm solid waste contains important nutrients for plants, such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, which play an important role in vegetative and generative growth of plants.
