The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) room in the hospital is a battlefield for medical personnel. Here, patients with critical conditions and serious diseases struggle to survive, need intensive attention and treatment. In the midst of the hustle and bustle of medical equipment and time pressure, the figure of the head of the room plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth running of nursing services. This study, which uses a qualitative approach with descriptive phenomenological design, explores the experience of the heads of rooms in ICU two government hospitals in Medan, namely Dr. Pirngadi Medan and H. Adam Malik General Hospital Medan. Through in-depth interviews with 12 heads of rooms, this study found four main themes that describe their experience in leading the nursing team in the ICU:
