Introduction
The quality of a higher education institution is strongly influenced by the quality of services provided. Quality services can be measured through customer satisfaction, in this case students. This study aims to find out whether ordinal logistics regression is suitable for use in this study, identifying similarities between variables, and finding aspects of service that affects the level of student satisfaction at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of the University of North Sumatra (USU). In this study, data were obtained from online questionnaires distributed to 92 respondents in FMIPA, with three independent variables analyzed, namely administrative aspects, teaching aspects, and aspects of facilities and infrastructure. Meanwhile, the dependent variable observed is student satisfaction as a whole.
Background and Literature Review
The importance of quality services in higher education institutions cannot be overstated. Students are the main customers in higher education, and their satisfaction is crucial for the success of the institution. Methodology
This study used a quantitative approach, with data collected from online questionnaires distributed to 92 respondents in FMIPA. The questionnaires were designed to measure student satisfaction with the services provided by FMIPA. The independent variables analyzed were administrative aspects, teaching aspects, and aspects of facilities and infrastructure. The dependent variable observed was student satisfaction as a whole. The data were analyzed using ordinal logistics regression, with the results presented in the form of a regression equation.
Results
The results showed that ordinal logistics regression and the equation produced were feasible to use. There is a significant influence from the aspects analyzed on student satisfaction. The three aspects that have a significant effect are administrative aspects, facilities, and infrastructure aspects. The Ordinal Logistics Regression Model shows that the combined effect of administrative aspects, teaching, and infrastructure contributes to 78% of the overall assessment of student satisfaction.
Furthermore, the results of the Odds Ratio test revealed that students have the highest probability to feel satisfied when looking at the aspect of infrastructure, with a value of 1.68 times greater. This shows that the better the facilities provided, the more likely students are satisfied with the services received.
Discussion
The services provided by FMIPA USU not only meet the standards, but also play an important role in student learning experiences. In this context, the administrative aspects include clarity of information, speed of response to student needs, as well as the openness of communication between the faculty and students. Meanwhile, teaching aspects are related to the quality of teaching, the methods used by lecturers, as well as the availability of supporting learning materials. Aspects of infrastructure include adequate classrooms, complete laboratory equipment, as well as the convenience of overall campus facilities.
Interestingly, with a significant contribution of 78% of this ordinal logistics regression model, the faculty can focus on improving aspects that have been identified as determining factors for student satisfaction. The improvement in these three aspects is expected to have a positive impact on student motivation and academic achievement of students.
Conclusion
In conclusion, this study provides empirical evidence that ordinal logistics regression is suitable for use in analyzing the factors affecting student satisfaction in a university setting. The results show that the independent variables have a significant effect on student satisfaction, with administrative aspects, facilities, and infrastructure aspects being the most significant. The study also highlights the importance of improving these aspects to increase student satisfaction and motivation.

- Conducting in-depth interviews to get a deeper perspective on their experiences related to services at FMIPA USU.
