The Effect of E-Parking Effectiveness on Community Satisfaction in Medan City

Introduction

The e-parking system, which utilizes technology for electronic parking payments, has been implemented in various cities, including Medan. This system promises ease and efficiency in payment of parking fees. However, in the field, the application of e-parking in Medan has not yet been fully running optimally and raises a number of problems. This study aims to reveal the effect of the effectiveness of the e-parking system on community satisfaction in paying parking fees in the city of Medan.

Background

The e-parking system is a modern solution to the traditional parking payment system. It utilizes technology to enable electronic payment of parking fees, making it easier and more efficient for drivers to pay for parking. However, the implementation of e-parking in Medan has not been without its challenges. The system has been plagued by problems such as unclear standard operating procedures, the existence of illegal levies, and a lack of coordination between parties involved in e-parking management.

Methodology

This study uses quantitative methods with associative research types. Data was collected through the distribution of questionnaires to 100 respondents who were selected simply. Data analysis was carried out using SEM (Structural Equation Modeling) through the SmartPLS program.

Results

The results showed that the effectiveness of e-parking in Medan was in the "agree" category with a score of 3.69, while public satisfaction was also in the "agree" category with a score of 3.66. The T-Statistic value of 19,854 is higher than the T-table value (1.29) with a significance of 0.000. This shows that the effectiveness variable has a positive and significant influence on public satisfaction in paying parking fees in the city of Medan. The value of R Square Determinant Test is 0.692 indicates that 69.2% community satisfaction is influenced by the effectiveness of e-parking, while the remaining (30.8%) is influenced by other variables outside of this study.

Deeper Analysis

The results of this study indicate that the e-parking system can increase community satisfaction in paying parking fees, but some obstacles still prevent optimization of this system. Several factors that need serious attention include:

Unclear Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)

The community still has difficulty in understanding the flow of payment and the use of e-parking applications. This lack of clarity can lead to confusion and frustration among users, which can ultimately affect their satisfaction with the system.

The Existence of Illegal Levies

The practice of illegal levies that still occur in the field erodes public trust in the e-parking system. This can lead to a decrease in the use of the system and a decrease in revenue for the city.

Lack of Coordination between Parties

The less optimal coordination between the government and the private sector involved in e-parking management resulted in less effective implementation. This can lead to a lack of consistency in the application of the system and a decrease in user satisfaction.

Solutions that can be applied

To increase the effectiveness of e-parking and community satisfaction, several solutions can be applied:

Simplification of SOPs

The government needs to provide a clear guide and is easily understood by the public regarding the flow of payment and the use of e-parking applications. This can be achieved through the creation of user-friendly manuals and guides that explain the system in a clear and concise manner.

Increased Supervision

The government must carry out strict supervision to prevent illegal levies and ensure that the e-parking system is applied fairly and transparently. This can be achieved through the implementation of regular audits and inspections to ensure that the system is being used correctly.

Increasing Coordination

Good coordination between parties involved in e-parking management is very important to ensure the smoothness and effectiveness of the system. This can be achieved through regular meetings and communication between the government and private sector stakeholders.

Conclusion

E-parking has the potential to increase the efficiency and satisfaction of the community in paying parking fees. However, to achieve this potential, the government and all parties involved need to work together to overcome existing obstacles and increase the effectiveness of the system. With the application of the right solution, the e-parking system can be an effective solution to increase community satisfaction in the city of Medan.

Resource

Limitation

This study has several limitations. Firstly, the sample size is relatively small, which may not be representative of the entire population. Secondly, the study only focuses on the city of Medan, which may not be generalizable to other cities. Finally, the study only examines the effect of e-parking effectiveness on community satisfaction, and does not examine other potential factors that may influence community satisfaction.

Future Research

Future research can build on this study by examining other potential factors that may influence community satisfaction, such as the impact of e-parking on traffic congestion and urban development. Additionally, future research can examine the effectiveness of e-parking in other cities and countries, to determine whether the findings of this study are generalizable to other contexts.
