Introduction
The poultry industry is one of the largest and most rapidly growing sectors in the agricultural industry. Broiler chickens are a crucial part of this industry, providing a significant source of protein for human consumption. Methodology
This study was conducted at the livestock study program cage, Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra, from October to November 2019. The research design used a complete random design (RAL) with four treatments and five replications. The treatment is applied including P0 as a control feed, P1 with the addition of 0.5% turmeric flour, P2 with the addition of 2.5% papaya leaf flour, and P3 which is a combination of 0.5% turmeric flour and 2.5% papaya leaf flour.
The parameters observed in this study include cutting weight, carcass weight, and the percentage of carcass from broiler chickens aged 35 days. The results showed that the addition of turmeric flour and papaya leaf flour in feed did not have a significant effect on cut weight, carcass weight, and the percentage of chicken carcass. However, there is a tendency that the administration of papaya leaf flour gives better results in terms of cutting and carcass weight compared to turmeric and control, although the difference is not statistically significant.
