The Effect of Giving N-Fix and TNF Leaf Fertilizer on Vegetative Growth of Palm Oil (Elaeis guineensis Jacq) in the Main Nursery
Introduction
Palm oil (Elaeis guineensis Jacq) is one of the most widely cultivated crops in the world, with Indonesia being the largest producer. The growth of palm oil is crucial for the success of the palm oil industry, and fertilizers play a significant role in promoting healthy growth. This study aims to examine the effect of giving N-Fix and TNF leaf fertilizer on vegetative growth of palm oil (Elaeis guineensis Jacq) in the main nursery.
Research Methodology
This study uses a factorial random group (rack) consisting of two treatment factors. The first factor is the administration of N-Fix with four levels of concentration:
- No (0 cc/1 water)
- N₁ (2.5 cc/1 water)
- N₂ (5.0 cc/1 water)
- N₃ (7.5 cc/1 water)
The second factor is the concentration of TNF leaf fertilizer with three levels of concentration:
- T₀ (0 cc/1 water)
- T₁ (2 cc/1 water)
- T₂ (4.0 cc/1 water)
With a combination of these two factors, a total of 12 treatments were repeated 3 times, using 180 oil palm seedlings as research objects.
The parameters observed in this study include the increase in the height of the seeds (in cm), the number of leaves (strands), the diameter of the stem (mm), the leaf area (cm²), and the increase in the number of chlorophyll (µg/mm²).
Research Result
The results showed that the administration of N-Fix had a significant effect on the height of seed height, stem diameter, and total leaf area at the age of 12-14 MST. Giving N-Fix is proven to be effective in increasing the vegetative growth of palm oil seeds in these parameters. However, for the increase in the number of leaves, the effect given by N-Fix is not significant during the same period.
On the other hand, the administration of TNF leaf fertilizer does not show a significant effect on all parameters observed over the age of 2-14 MST. This may be caused by the concentration of fertilizer that is not optimal or discrepancy between the type of fertilizer and soil conditions at the study site.
The interaction between n-fix administration and TNF leaf fertilizer at the age of 2-14 MST also does not show a significant effect on all observed parameters. This indicates that although N-Fix contributes positively to growth, TNF leaf fertilizer does not provide additional values in the context of the interaction.
Analysis and Discussion
From the results of this study, it can be concluded that the administration of N-Fix plays an important role in supporting the growth of oil palm seedlings, especially in the initial phase of growth. This shows the importance of choosing the right fertilizer to improve agricultural output, especially in oil palm cultivation which is very dependent on optimal vegetative growth.
However, the results show that TNF leaf fertilizer does not provide a positive effect needs to be a concern. Modern agriculture requires an effective and appropriate combination of fertilization, as well as further research to find formulations that can increase the effectiveness of leaf fertilizer in supporting the growth of oil palm seedlings.
Conclusion
This research provides valuable insights on the practice of fertilizing in oil palm cultivation and the importance of conducting further trials to get more optimal results. The findings of this study can be used as a reference for farmers and researchers to improve the growth of oil palm seedlings.
