The results of the analysis using the paired t statistical test showed that there was a significant decrease in the surface of the enamel in the first group, which was soaked in clove mouthwash without the addition of artificial saliva (p <0.05). Meanwhile, the second group, which was soaked in clove mouthwash with artificial saliva, showed a significant increase in enamel surface hardness (p <0.05).

Discussion

The findings of this study suggest that immersion in clove mouthwash without the addition of artificial saliva has the potential to reduce enamel hardness, while a combination of clove mouthwash with artificial saliva can help increase enamel hardness after exposure to demineralization. This study opens opportunities for the use of natural mouthwash made from natural ingredients as an alternative in maintaining the health of tooth enamel, especially for those who often consume sour foods or drinks.
