Introduction
Cancer kahexia, also known as anorexia-cachexia syndrome (ACS), is a metabolic disorder commonly found in patients with advanced-stage cancer. This condition is characterized by significant weight loss and loss of muscle mass, which can lead to poor health outcomes and reduced quality of life. Decreased carnosine levels diptidase-1 (CNDP-1) has been associated with poor health parameters in cancer kahexia patients. Research Methods
This study was conducted on 30 cancer patients who met the inclusion criteria, through a clinical trial approach using the pre-post test method of one group. Measurement of carnosine levels dipeptidase-1 is carried out before and after administration of the Ophiocephalus Striatus extract. The study was conducted in all Hospitals of the Department of Disease in the Faculty of Medicine, University of North Sumatra, with the approval of the Research Ethics Commission of the Faculty of Medicine. The research activity took place from January to June 2019.

Of the 30 respondents who participated, as many as 66.7% were men with an average age of 51.47 years. The most common types of cancer identified are gastrointestinal cancer (46.7%), followed by pulmonary carcinoma (20%), nasopharyngeal carcinoma (13.3%), and non-Hodgkin lymphoma (6.7%). The results of the analysis using the Wilcoxon test showed a significant relationship between carnosine levels dipeptidase-1 before and after giving the ophiocephalus striatus (p = 0.007) extract. This finding indicates an increase in carnosine levels dipeptidase-1 from 2.21 μg/ml before treatment to 2.8 μg/ml after treatment.
