Methodology
This study uses a correlational method to examine the relationship between the exposure of terrorism news on TV One and the attitude of Muslim youth in Al-Azhar Medan High School. The population of this study covers all students in grade 1 and 2 of Al-Azhar Medan High School in the 2009/2010 school year, totaling 360 people. A sample of 72 students was selected through proportional sampling techniques and purposive sampling. Data was collected through literature studies and field research.
Data Analysis
Data analysis uses descriptive analysis, correlation, and hypothesis testing. Correlational analysis was carried out using the Correlation Coefficient formula for Spearman (Spearman's Rank Order) through the SPSS 15.0 for Windows application. The results of the analysis showed the Rank Spearman correlation coefficient of 0.370 with a probability value of 0.001. These results indicate that there is a significant relationship between terrorism news on TV One and the attitude of Muslim youth in Al-Azhar Medan High School.
Results
The results of this study have important implications. With the exposure of terrorism news on TV One, it is expected that Muslim teenagers in Al-Azhar Medan High School can have the right and appropriate attitude in understanding and assessing the phenomenon of terrorism in Indonesia. It is essential for teenagers to be able to understand the meaning and dangers of terrorism, as well as form a critical and tolerant attitude towards this issue.
