Introduction

Watching television is one of the most common activities carried out by teenagers today. Television shows, especially those that are entertainment, are often the first choice to fill spare time. However, audience satisfaction with an event does not only depend on entertainment. In the context of the event Street Children, a low assessment of satisfaction shows that the content presented is less able to meet the expectations and needs of adolescent audiences. This study aims to determine the level of adolescent satisfaction in watching the event Street Children which aired on RCTI and carried out among teenagers in Medan.

Background of the Study

The main purpose of this study is to determine the level of adolescent satisfaction in watching the event Street Children. This study adopted several supporting theories, including communication, mass communication, uses & gratification, and level of satisfaction. The method used in this study is quantitative descriptive, which aims to measure and calculate the level of television watching satisfaction. The study was conducted from March to June 2016, involving the population of students of SMAN 1 Medan, especially those participating in sports and achievement extracurricular (OP) with a total of 50 students.

Methodology

The sampling techniques used in this study are carried out through field research by distributing questionnaires and gathering information from related literature. Data analysis is carried out by a single table analysis method. The study aims to measure and calculate the level of television watching satisfaction among the respondents.

Results

The results showed that the level of adolescent satisfaction in watching the Street Children was very low. As many as 52% of respondents expressed their dissatisfaction with the event, on the grounds of lack of benefits from the show and scenes of violence displayed. In addition, this event is considered not to provide a good example in solving problems, which is a concern for teenagers.
