This study aims to investigate the relationship between professional services of specialist doctors and general patient satisfaction in inpatient internal diseases rooms at Adam Malik Hajj General Hospital.

Data was collected through direct data collection and analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Pearson Correlation statistical test at a significance level of 95%.

Results

The results of this study showed that the professional service of specialist doctors based on specialist doctor's competencies was good in terms of therapy (43.5%), but quite sufficient in terms of preparation (51.9%), anamnesis (54.2%), physical examination (55.7%), and termination (61.1%). In terms of service, specialist doctors are classified as quite in terms of reliability (42.7%), responsive (55%), guarantees (64.1%), attention (64.9%), and appearance (51.1%). Patient assessment of overall health service satisfaction shows quite satisfied results (54.2%).

Discussion

The results of this study indicate that there is a significant relationship between doctor's professional services (competencies and services) with general patient satisfaction (p <0.05). This suggests that good professional services from specialist doctors do have a significant influence on the level of patient satisfaction. The findings of this study are consistent with previous studies that have shown that patient satisfaction is influenced by the quality of care provided by healthcare professionals.
