Introduction

The Langkat Regency Health Center faced a significant challenge in providing effective dental and oral health services. The ratio of filling to extraction of teeth was only 1:4, indicating a low scope of dental health services. Additionally, the dental health service efforts for school children were recorded at only 53.43%, highlighting the need for improvement in the dental and oral health programs in the area. The research population consisted of all dentists who served as Head of the Dental Polyclinic Unit at the Langkat Regency Health Center, totaling 26 people. The entire population was used as a research sample. Data collection was carried out through interviews with questionnaire assistance and document reviews to obtain a picture of the performance of dentists. The data collected was analyzed using the Chi Square test.

Results

The results of the analysis using the Chi Square test showed a significant relationship between individual factors (p = 0.039), work motivation (p = 0,000), and leadership (p = 0.014) with performance in oral and oral health services. The P value obtained shows that all of these variables have a significant effect on the performance of dentists in the context of health services, with a confidence level of 95%.

Discussion

The findings of this study suggest that individual factors, work motivation, and leadership have a significant influence on the performance of dentists in dental and oral health services. The results indicate that dentists with higher levels of education, experience, and motivation tend to perform better in their roles. Additionally, the study found that leadership plays a crucial role in guiding and directing others, which is essential for effective dental and oral health services.

Recommendations

Based on the results of this study, several recommendations can be submitted to the Head of the Langkat Regency Health Office as follows:

  1. System and Budget Management Control: It is recommended that the management system and budget program for dental health services are well managed to be more effective.
  2. Increasing work motivation: The use of appropriate compensation concepts is needed, as well as training and courses to increase the work motivation of dentists through specialist programs.
  3. Leadership development: The development of leadership skills among dentists is essential to improve the quality of dental health services in the area.

Conclusion

Individual factors, work motivation, and leadership have a significant influence on the performance of dentists in dental and oral health services at the Langkat Regency Health Center. Efforts to improve in the field of management and work motivation are very necessary to improve the quality of dental health services in the area. Through these steps, it is expected that oral dental and dental health services can improve and provide greater benefits for the community.

Limitations

This study has several limitations. Firstly, the study was conducted in a single health center, which may limit the generalizability of the findings. Secondly, the study relied on self-reported data, which may be subject to biases. Finally, the study did not control for other factors that may influence the performance of dentists, such as the availability of resources and the level of support from colleagues and supervisors.
