The Crucial Role of Health Promotion in Pregnancy Care Management: A Study on Matorkis Midwifery Academy Graduates
Introduction
The management of pregnancy care is a critical aspect of healthcare that requires a multidisciplinary approach to prevent maternal and infant mortality. In Indonesia, the Matorkis Midwifery Academy in Padangsidimpuan has been producing skilled midwives who play a vital role in providing quality pregnancy care. However, the relationship between health promotion, including social support and midwife knowledge, and the management of pregnancy care in clinical practice remains unclear. This study aims to investigate the relationship between health promotion and the management of pregnancy care among graduates of the Matorkis Midwifery Academy in 2015.
Background
The management of pregnancy care is a complex process that involves controlling bleeding, infection, eclampsia, and parturition. The success of childbirth is also influenced by adequate health facilities, midwives' expertise, and family support. This study aims to analyze the relationship between health promotion, including social support and midwife knowledge, and the management of pregnancy care in clinical practice among graduates of the Matorkis Midwifery Academy in 2015. The study seeks to answer the following research questions:
- What is the relationship between health promotion and the management of pregnancy care in clinical practice among graduates of the Matorkis Midwifery Academy in 2015?
- What is the role of social support and midwife knowledge in the management of pregnancy care in clinical practice among graduates of the Matorkis Midwifery Academy in 2015?
Methodology
This study uses an explanatory survey method with a population of 30 midwives graduated from the Matorkis Padangsidimpuan Midwifery Academy since 2011. The study used a questionnaire to collect data, which was then analyzed using chi-square test and multiple logistics regression at a confidence interval of 0.05.
Research Result
The results of this study showed that the support of information and knowledge of midwives had a significant relationship (p = 0,000 and p = 0.002) with the management of pregnancy care. Multiple logistics regression test showed that information support (p = 0.019, odd ratio = 23.235) has the most powerful relationship with the management of pregnancy care, followed by midwife knowledge (p = 0.027, odd ratio = 22.482). The coefficient of determination of 0.664 shows that midwives' expertise in the management of pregnancy care is influenced by the support of information, instrumental, assessment, emotional, and collective knowledge of the midwife.
Discussion
The results of this study indicate an important role of the support of information and knowledge of midwives in the management of pregnancy care. Information support, in particular, is the most significant factor in determining the success of the management of pregnancy care. This study highlights the need for educational institutions to provide comprehensive training and assistance to improve the expertise and confidence of midwives in providing quality pregnancy care.
Recommendation
Based on the results of this study, it is recommended that the Matorkis Padangsidimpuan Midwifery Academy education institution increases the health promotion efforts and expertise of graduates in the management of pregnancy care. This can be achieved by providing comprehensive training and assistance to improve the expertise and confidence of midwives in providing quality pregnancy care.
Practical Implications
The results of this study have important implications for the clinical practice of midwife graduates of the Matorkis Padangsidimpuan Midwifery Academy. Midwives need to increase knowledge and skills in the management of pregnancy care. In addition, educational institutions need to provide comprehensive training and assistance to improve the expertise and confidence of midwives in providing quality pregnancy care.

This study confirms the importance of supporting information and knowledge of midwives in the management of pregnancy care.
