Introduction

Marriage at a young age is a common phenomenon in many parts of the world, including Indonesia. However, this early marriage is often accompanied by a lack of understanding of good parenting, especially in meeting the nutritional needs of toddlers. This lack of knowledge, coupled with limited family income, can result in nutritional problems in children. Therefore, it is essential to investigate the relationship between family income and parenting with the nutritional status of toddlers to mothers who are married young in Patumbak II Village.

Background

Patumbak II Village is a rural area in Indonesia where many young people get married at a young age. This early marriage is often due to various factors, including cultural and social pressures. However, this early marriage can have a significant impact on the nutritional status of toddlers. Toddlers from families with high income are more likely to have good nutritional status. Similarly, 59.5% of toddlers with good nutritional status based on height for age (TB/U) come from families with high income. Furthermore, 73.0% of toddlers with good nutritional status based on weight for age (BB/TB) come from families with high income.

In addition to family income, parenting also plays an important role in determining the nutritional status of toddlers. The results of this study show that 57.1% of toddlers have a good diet, while the other 42.9% have a poor diet. Cleanliness parenting is also an important factor, with 54.0% of toddlers having good cleanliness parenting and 46.0% having poor cleanliness parenting. Health parenting is also an important factor, with 58.7% of toddlers having good health parenting and 41.3% having poor health parenting.

The nutritional status of toddlers based on the majority BB/U is in the good category (42.9%) and the lowest in the overweight category (22.2%). Meanwhile, nutritional status based on the majority TB/U is in the normal category (46.0%) and the lowest in the short category (19.0%).
