Introduction

Methodology
This study was conducted in December 2016 to January 2017 using the Purposive Random Sampling method. The study site was located on the coast of Fittle Net Village, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra. Data collection included mangrove vegetation, abundance of macrozoobenthos, and water quality parameters. The results showed that there were 11 mangrove species at the study site, with the highest density at station I (5166 ind/ha), followed by station II (4066 ind/ha), and station III (1567 ind/ha).
Results
Analysis of the abundance of macrozoobenthos showed 16 species at the study site, with UCA SPP. as a species with the highest composition (41%). Species P.Alabstrum, P.Erosa, P.Merguensis, and T.Trebraes had the lowest composition of 0%. The analysis of the relationship between mangrove density and abundance of macrozoobenthos showed the regression equation y = 0.0808x + 24.225 with a value of R2 of 0.7526 and r = 0.867. This shows a very strong and real relationship between mangrove density and abundance of macrozoobenthos at the study site.
