Data was collected through field observations, interviews with 15 informants (fishermen, individuals, and employers), and the distribution of questionnaires to 53 respondents consisting of 30 fishermen, 15 individual fishermen, and 8 employers. The qualitative descriptive method allowed for an in-depth understanding of the patterns of parenting and character education in the fishermen's family, while the quantitative method provided a broader perspective through the distribution of questionnaires.
Results
The results of this study showed that authoritative parenting patterns were found in individual fishermen and several fishermen employers. However, labor fishermen did not apply authoritative parenting patterns. Both labor fishermen and fishermen employers tended to apply democratic parenting patterns to their children. This suggests that the type of work and the level of control exerted by parents influence the parenting patterns adopted.
