Modification Of Charcoal Briquette Printing Devices With A Hydraulic Press System Using Tea Waste Raw Materials
Modification of Charcoal Briquette Printing Devices with a Hydraulic Press System Using Tea Waste Raw Materials: A Sustainable and Economical Solution
Introduction
The increasing use of fossil energy has a significant negative impact on the environment. As a result, the development of alternative energy sources from biomass, such as charcoal briquettes, has become a promising solution. Charcoal briquettes are a type of solid fuel made from compressed charcoal dust, which can be produced from various biomass sources, including tea waste. In this study, we aim to modify charcoal briquette printing devices with a hydraulic press system, utilizing tea waste as raw materials, to increase the capacity and quality of charcoal briquettes.
Background
The use of fossil energy has been the primary source of energy for many years, but it has a significant negative impact on the environment. The burning of fossil fuels releases greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide and methane, which contribute to climate change. Therefore, the development of alternative energy sources from biomass has become a crucial step towards reducing our reliance on fossil fuels. Charcoal briquettes are a type of solid fuel made from compressed charcoal dust, which can be produced from various biomass sources, including tea waste.
Research Methodology
This study aims to increase the capacity and quality of charcoal briquettes by modifying charcoal briquette printing devices with a hydraulic press system. The modification process is carried out using a complete non-factorial research design. The parameters measured include:
- Effective capacity: The amount of charcoal briquettes produced per hour
- Heat value: The amount of energy released when the charcoal briquettes are burned
- Compressive strength: The ability of the charcoal briquettes to withstand pressure
- Economic analysis: The cost of production of charcoal briquettes and the break-even point
- Net present value (NPV): The present value of future cash flows
- Internal return rate (IRR): The rate of return on investment
Results
The results of this study showed that the modification of charcoal briquette printing tools using a hydraulic press system had a significant effect on effective capacity, heat value, and briquette compressive strength. The best effective capacity produced reaches 5,985 kg of tools/hour. The resulting charcoal briquettes also have the best heat value of 6677,9583 CAL/G, meet Japanese, British and Indonesian standards. The compressive strength of the briquette also reaches 10.56 kg/cm2, according to Indonesian standards.
Economic Analysis
The economic analysis of this study shows that the cost of production of charcoal briquettes for the fifth year reaches Rp. 6,004,52/kg. The break-even point in the fifth year amounted to 1,291.38 kg/year. The NPV obtained reached Rp. 41,422,753.34 with IRR of 38.83%. These results indicate that the use of charcoal briquette printing devices with a hydraulic press system is very economically feasible.
Benefits of Modification of Charcoal Briquette Printing Devices with a Hydraulic Press System
The modification of charcoal briquette printing devices with a hydraulic press system has several benefits, including:
Increasing Production Efficiency
The hydraulic press system increases the production capacity of charcoal briquettes, so that it can produce large amounts of charcoal briquettes in a short time.
Improving the Quality of Charcoal Briquettes
The resulting charcoal briquette has a high heat value and optimal compressive strength, so it is more efficient and durable in combustion.
Reducing Waste
Tea waste that is usually discarded can be processed into charcoal briquettes, thereby reducing environmental pollution and increasing the added value of the waste.
Reducing Production Costs
Production costs of charcoal briquettes can be reduced because of the use of tea waste as raw materials and increasing the efficiency of the production process.
Increasing Economic Value
The high NPV and IRR indicate that investment in charcoal briquette printing devices with a hydraulic press system is very profitable.
Conclusion
Modification of charcoal briquette printing devices with a hydraulic press system is an effective and economical solution to increase the production of charcoal briquettes from tea waste. Utilization of tea waste as raw materials and increased production efficiency is not only environmentally friendly, but also opens new business opportunities.
Recommendation
Based on the results of this study, it is recommended that the use of charcoal briquette printing devices with a hydraulic press system be implemented in industries that produce charcoal briquettes. This will not only increase the production capacity and quality of charcoal briquettes but also reduce production costs and environmental pollution.
