The lack of understanding and application of Gen. can lead to the dissemination of false information, which can have serious consequences for individuals and society as a whole.

Methodology

This study employed a phenomenological approach, with a constructivism approach, to explore the understanding and application of Gen. by online journalists at Waspada Online. The study involved eight journalists with various positions, ranging from assistant editorial leaders to reporters. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and literature studies. The phenomenological method involves four research phases: epoche, phenomenological reduction, imagination variation, and synthesis of meaning and essence.

The results of this study showed several important points:

Motivation and Understanding of Journalists' Duties

Although the motivation of online journalists to be online in carrying out their professions is diverse, they agree that the main task of journalists is to find, collect, and present accurate and factual information, without spiced personal opinion. Based on the findings of this study, the following recommendations are made:

This study has several limitations, including:

  • Sample Size: The sample size of this study is limited to eight journalists, which may not be representative of all online journalists in Indonesia.
