Introduction

This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the use of MOW contraception among mothers of Fertile Age Couples (PUS) in Siantar Marihat District, Pematangsiantar City in 2015.

Methodology

This study uses an analytical descriptive method with a cross-sectional approach. The population of 1,363 Pus Mrs. Pus was analyzed, and 93 samples were taken to be studied. The results of the analysis showed that the majority of research participants were over 35 years old, with 46 people (90.1%) falling into this category. The lowest number of participants was in the age group under 20 years, with only 3 people (18.8%) in this category.

Demographic Characteristics

The analysis also showed that the majority of participants had a high level of education, with 50 people (98.0%) having completed high school. Only 3 people (16.7%) had a low level of education. In terms of parity, the majority of participants had more than two children, with 40 people (88.9%) in this category. Those who had fewer than two children totaled 32 people (66.7%).

Knowledge of MOW Contraception

The analysis also showed that the majority of participants had good knowledge of MOW contraception, with 62 people (96.9%) in this category. Only 10 people (34.5%) declared that they had poor knowledge of MOW contraception.

Support from Husband and Health Workers

The support from the husband and health workers was also significant in the decision to use MOW contraception. With 45 people (90.0%) receiving good support from their husbands, and 42 people (91.3%) showing positive support from health workers.

Conclusion

From these results, it can be concluded that the age, level of education, parity, knowledge, and support from her husband and health workers are factors that are very influential in Mrs. Pus's decision to use MOW contraception. Therefore, the Siantar Marihat District Government is expected to be more active in socializing the importance of the use of contraceptives for public health. Health workers are also advised to further encourage the promotion of the benefits of using MOW contraception, as well as encouraging husbands to provide support to their wives in making decisions related to contraception.

To increase the use of MOW contraception and maintain family welfare, the following steps can be taken:
