Introduction

Work fatigue is a condition that begins with prolonged fatigue and reduced levels of alertness, which in turn has a negative impact on work efficiency. This fatigue often arises due to the stress experienced before, resulting in a decrease in function and performance. Understanding the factors related to work fatigue is crucial for companies to take preventive steps and improve workers' welfare and overall operational efficiency. This research aims to identify factors related to work fatigue in workers in the service department of PT. Perintis Perkasa Adam Malik.

Methodology

This research is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional approach, aiming to identify factors related to work fatigue in workers in the service department of PT. Perintis Perkasa Adam Malik. In this study, the population studied consisted of 33 mechanical and washing workers, and the entire population was used as a sample. The data analysis technique used is the Spearman ranking correlation analysis. Work fatigue is measured using a questionnaire from the Industrial Fatigue Research Committee (IFRC) to test the subjective feelings of fatigue (subjective self-rating test).

Results

The results showed that the level of fatigue among mechanical workers and washing was in a medium category, with as many as 16 workers (48.5%) experienced moderate fatigue, 15 workers (45.5%) in the low category, and 2 workers (6.1 %) in the high category. Research also found a relationship between age and fatigue that shows a relationship with the degree of intercourse. Meanwhile, the analysis between physical workload and fatigue indicates a relationship that is also in a medium degree. However, the results of research on mental workload and fatigue as well as between nutrition and work fatigue showed no significant relationship.

Work fatigue not only affects individuals, but also affects team productivity and overall company performance. Therefore, it is important to understand the factors that cause fatigue so that prevention strategies can be implemented effectively. One factor that is quite striking is excessive physical workload, which can cause decreased stamina and work efficiency. Furthermore, even though the mental workload does not show a significant relationship with fatigue, the psychological aspect must still be considered. Nutrition also plays a major role in the level of fatigue. Workers who lack good nutritional intake tend to be more easily tired. Therefore, health and fitness programs that include education about healthy eating patterns can be an added value for the company. By understanding various factors that affect work fatigue, it is expected that companies can take better preventive steps and improve workers' welfare and overall operational efficiency. The results of this study suggest that companies should take steps to reduce physical workload, create a positive work environment, and promote healthy eating habits. By doing so, companies can help to reduce work fatigue and improve the overall well-being of their workers.

Recommendations

Based on these findings, researchers suggest that the company divide the workload evenly among workers to avoid injustice in the division of tasks. In addition, it is recommended that workers help each other, especially for workers who are under 35 years old, and improve their work attitudes so as not to quickly feel tired. The company is also advised to ensure that workers get adequate fluid intake during working hours to help maintain their stamina.

Limitations

This study has several limitations. Firstly, the sample size is relatively small, which may limit the generalizability of the findings. Secondly, the study only examined the relationship between work fatigue and a few potential predictors, and did not explore other potential factors that may contribute to work fatigue.
