Introduction

In the context of broiler chicken farms, the application of the right technology package is the key to success in increasing productivity and quality of livestock. In Amandamai Village, Sirapit District, Langkat Regency, a study was conducted to evaluate the application of broiler chicken technology packages. This study aims to determine the type of technology applied, the success rate of implementation, problems faced by farmers, as well as efforts that need to be made to overcome these problems.

The application of technology packages in broiler chicken farming has numerous benefits, including improved productivity, increased efficiency, and enhanced quality of livestock. In this study, we aim to evaluate the application of broiler chicken technology packages in Amandamai Village and identify the challenges faced by farmers in implementing these technology packages.

Research Methodology

This study uses the purposive sampling method to determine the location of the research intentionally. Of the total population of 730 heads of family (KK), as many as 21 breeders were chosen as samples with the quota sampling method. The sample is divided into two strata: Strata I for breeders with the number of livestock ≥2000 tails represented by 8 breeders, and strata II for breeders with the number of livestock <2000 tails represented by 3 breeders. The total sample taken was 11 breeders. Data analysis is carried out descriptively to describe the findings of this study.

The research methodology used in this study is a combination of qualitative and quantitative approaches. The qualitative approach is used to gather data on the type of technology applied, the success rate of implementation, and the problems faced by farmers. The quantitative approach is used to analyze the data and identify the challenges faced by farmers in implementing the technology packages.

From the research results, it was found that there were various application of technology packages in broiler chicken farms, including:

Adequate views: Most breeders have adequate views on the importance of technology packages in broiler chicken farming.
Appropriate equipment: Most breeders have the necessary equipment to implement the technology packages.
Good nurseries: Most breeders have good nurseries to raise their broiler chickens.
Care for seeds and prospective parent: Most breeders take good care of their seeds and prospective parents.
Giving the right food and drink: Most breeders provide the right food and drink to their broiler chickens.
Making bokhasi as animal feed: Most breeders make bokhasi as animal feed for their broiler chickens.

The success rate of implementing broiler chicken technology packages in this village can be categorized as moderate, which means that most of the technology has been well implemented.

Problems Faced

However, breeders also face some problems that hinder the success of the application of this technology. These problems include:

Disease attack: Many breeders have difficulty in overcoming various diseases that attack broiler chickens.
Difficulties in the maintenance system: Most breeders have difficulty implementing effective maintenance systems.
Lack of raising skills: Many breeders do not have adequate skills for effective raising livestock.
Security Problems: The threat of livestock theft is a serious problem for farmers in this village.

To overcome these problems, some efforts were made by breeders, including:

Overcoming disease attacks: breeders provide drugs, vitamins, and vaccines regularly in accordance with the recommended dosage, in order to maintain the health of chickens.
Skills improvement: active breeders follow every counseling held by the local Animal Husbandry Service to improve their raising skills.
Livestock safety: breeders socialize with local youth to create a better security system, so that theft can be minimized.

Conclusion

The application of broiler chicken farm technology packages in Amandamai Village shows quite good results with several challenges that must be faced by breeders. Although there are problems in the maintenance system, disease attacks, and safety, steps taken to overcome them provide hope for increasing the success of broiler chicken farms in this village. It is important to continue to support farmers through education and training so that they can be more effective in managing their livestock business. Thus, it is expected that broiler chicken farms in Amandamai Village can develop better and contribute to the regional economy.
