Effects of the Environment, Family, and Peer Group on Premarital Sexual Behavior in Adolescents at the TJ Bathing Tour Site Selamat Kab. Deli Serdang 2015
Introduction
Premarital sexual behavior among adolescents has become a significant concern in recent years. The increasing trend of premarital sex among teenagers is influenced by various factors, including the social environment, family dynamics, and the influence of peers. This study aims to analyze the effect of these factors on premarital sexual behavior in adolescents at the TJ Nature Bathing Tourism Site, located in Selamat, Deli Serdang Regency.
Background
Premarital sexual behavior among adolescents is a complex issue that has been studied extensively in various contexts. The factors that contribute to this behavior are multifaceted and can be influenced by individual, family, and environmental factors. In this study, we focus on the role of the environment, family, and peer group in shaping the premarital sexual behavior of adolescents at the TJ Nature Bathing Tourism Site.
Methodology
This study employed an analytical survey with a cross-sectional design to collect data from teenagers who visited the location. A total of 76 respondents were used as a sample, and data was collected through interviews and questionnaires. Secondary data sources were also taken from information available at the location. The research population includes all teenagers visiting the TJ Nature Bathing Tourism Site.
Results
The results of this study showed that the environment, family conditions that were not harmonious (broken home), and peer groups affect adolescent sexual behavior. Conversely, the busyness of parents and interpersonal relationships in the family do not show significant effects. Among the variables studied, the environment is proven to be the most dominant factor that affects adolescent premarital sexual behavior.
Discussion
The youth social environment, which includes friends, communities, and activities around tourist sites, plays a major role in shaping their mindset and behavior. Teenagers who grow in an environment that is less supportive or high risk has a greater tendency to be involved in premarital sexual behavior. Therefore, it is essential for adolescents to stay away from negative environments and find a healthier and more supportive environment.
A harmonious family relationship is also very important in shaping adolescent behavior. Although the results of the study show that the busyness of parents has no direct effect, the involvement of parents in adolescent life can function as an effective controller. Open communication between parents and children on sensitive topics such as sexuality can provide a better understanding for teenagers and help them make the right decisions.
The role of peer groups cannot be ignored in shaping adolescent behavior. Peers are often the main source of information and behavior adopted by adolescents. If teenagers are involved with groups who have norms that support negative behavior, they tend to imitate them. Therefore, it is essential for adolescents to form a positive friendship group and mutual support in avoiding premarital sexual behavior.
Conclusion
To deal with this problem, it is advisable to adolescents to pay more attention to the environment around them. In addition, parents should be more active in providing supervision and advice. The owner of the tourist location also has the responsibility to create a safe and healthy atmosphere for visitors by establishing a clear policy regarding the behavior allowed in the area.
In an effort to prevent, socialization about the dangers of premarital sexual behavior must be intensively carried out, both in schools and in the community. With a comprehensive approach, it is expected that premarital sexual behavior among adolescents can be minimized, creating a healthier and more responsible generation.
