Introduction

Yuliddin Away Tapaktuan Hospital in South Aceh Regency, the implementation of clinical supervision by the head of the room and the performance of the implementing nurse had not reached the optimal level. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of clinical supervision training in the head of the room on the performance of the nurse in the inpatient room.

Clinical supervision is a process that involves the observation, guidance, and evaluation of a nurse's performance by a more experienced nurse or a supervisor. The primary goal of clinical supervision is to improve the quality of care provided to patients, enhance the skills and knowledge of nurses, and promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement. This study employed an experimental quasi-method with a pre-post test design. A total of 51 implementing nurses were chosen as samples for clinical supervision of the academic model through purposive sampling techniques. Meanwhile, 30 nursing care documents scattered in the ten inpatient rooms of the RSUD were used as a sample to analyze the performance of the implementing nurse. Interventions carried out include training and guidance of clinical supervision for the head of the room. The data collected consists of primary data obtained through questionnaires and observations, as well as secondary data taken from the hospital documentation.

Data Analysis

Data analysis was carried out using a paired t-test test to determine the difference in performance before and after intervention. The results showed a significant increase in clinical supervision of the head of the room, from the percentage value of 43.1% to 64.7% after training. The paired t-test test produces a 0.015 p-value, which indicates a significant difference between clinical supervision before and after training. In addition, the performance of the implementing nurse also experienced a drastic increase, from 26.7% to 86.7% after getting supervision from the head of the room that had been trained. The paired t-test test for performance produces a 0.001 p-value, shows a significant difference.

Results

The results of this study indicate that the clinical supervision training of the head of the room is very effective in improving the performance of the implementing nurse in the inpatient room of Dr. H. Yuliddin Away Tapaktuan. The significant increase in clinical supervision and performance of the implementing nurse after training suggests that the intervention was successful in improving the quality of care provided to patients.

The findings of this study are consistent with previous research that highlights the importance of clinical supervision in improving the performance of nurses. Clinical supervision is not only limited to improving performance, but also contributes to increasing patient satisfaction and patient safety.
