Introduction

The shop's success can be attributed to its ability to adapt to changing consumer preferences and trends. However, with the increasing competition in the souvenir industry, it is essential for the shop to continue innovating and exploring new products to maintain its market share. This study seeks to understand the impact of product diversification on consumer purchasing decisions, with the ultimate goal of providing insights that can inform the shop's marketing strategy.

Methodology

This study employed a quantitative approach, collecting data from customers and consumers who visited the Gultom Souvenir Shop. The intended population was a customer of Gultom Souvenir Shop, and sampling was carried out using the Rao Purba formula and accidental sampling technique. A total of 100 questionnaires were distributed to respondents, which were then analyzed using statistical software. The analysis methods used include validity tests, reliability tests, normality tests, hypothesis tests (T-test), as well as the analysis test of the coefficient of determination (R²). Simple linear regression analysis was used to analyze the data.

Results

The results of this study showed that data that met the validity, reliability, and normality tests were successfully processed using statistical software. The resulting regression equation is:

y = 11,506 + 0.771x

Where Y is a purchasing decision and X is product diversification. The results of hypothesis testing revealed that the product diversification variable has a positive effect on the purchasing decision of the consumer souvenir shop Gultom. This means that the more varied the products offered, the more likely consumers are to make purchases. The R Square value obtained was 0.396, indicating that 39.6% of the factors that influence purchasing decisions can be explained by product diversification. Meanwhile, the remaining 60.4% is influenced by other factors not examined in this study.
