Introduction

The rapid growth of technology and the increasing demands of modern life have led to significant changes in the way people live and interact with each other. In Indonesia, the startup sector, particularly in e-commerce and fintech, has experienced a rapid increase in growth. The COVID-19 pandemic has further accelerated the shift from cash transactions to non-cash transactions, resulting in a significant increase in the use of digital wallets and Qris (Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard). One of the most popular digital wallets in Indonesia is Ovo, which has experienced significant growth. Bank Indonesia predicts that the growth of electronic money transactions will continue, and the implementation of Qris in various countries is expected to increase trade and tourism in the ASEAN region.

Background of the Study

The use of digital wallets and Qris has become increasingly popular in Indonesia, with Ovo being one of the most widely used digital wallets. The growth of electronic money transactions is expected to continue, and the implementation of Qris is expected to increase trade and tourism in the ASEAN region. However, the efficiency of using digital wallets and Qris depends on various factors, including the perception of ease and benefits. This study aims to assess the effect of perception of ease and perception of benefits on the efficiency of using Digital Ovo Wallet.

Research Methodology

This study uses a quantitative approach with an associative design. The population of this research is the people of Medan City who use QRIS in Digital Ovo wallets. The sample size was determined as many as 96 respondents, chosen through non-probability purposive sampling. Primary data is obtained through a direct questionnaire distribution, while secondary data is collected through a literature review. Various analytical methods are used in this study, including validity tests, reliability tests, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, partial tests, simultaneous tests, and determination tests. In addition, data is processed using SPSS version 29 software.

Results and Discussion

The results of this study show that the perception of ease and benefits has a significant positive impact on the efficiency of use. The value of the regression coefficient for the perception of ease and benefits of each is 0.413 and 0.452, respectively. Both show the value of T-count greater than 1,985 with a significance value (GIS) of 0.001, which shows statistical significance. In the simultaneous test, it appears that the perception variable of ease and benefits has a simultaneous effect with an influence level of 85.7%. Interestingly, the remaining 14.3% is influenced by factors outside the scope of this research.

Conclusion

The results of this study show that the perception of ease and benefits has a significant positive impact on the efficiency of using Digital Ovo Wallet. The effect of perception of ease and benefits is not only limited to the efficiency of OVO use, but also has the potential to increase the adoption of financial technology in the community. With the ease and benefits that are felt, users will be more likely to conduct non-cash transactions, which in turn can reduce the use of cash and accelerate digital transformation in the economy. Therefore, it is important for service providers such as OVO to continue to improve user experience and strengthen public confidence in the digital payment system so that this growth can be sustainable and bring greater benefits to the economy as a whole.

Recommendations

Based on the results of this study, the following recommendations are made:

  • Service providers such as OVO should continue to improve user experience and strengthen public confidence in the digital payment system.
  • The government should provide support and incentives for the growth of digital transactions and the adoption of financial technology.
  • Financial institutions and service providers should work together to improve the efficiency and experience of users in using digital wallets.
  • The use of QRIS as a payment standard should be encouraged to facilitate the growth of digital transactions not only in Indonesia, but also throughout ASEAN.

Limitations of the Study

This study has several limitations, including:

  • The sample size is limited to 96 respondents, which may not be representative of the entire population of Medan City.
  • The study only focuses on the perception of ease and benefits, and does not consider other factors that may influence the efficiency of using Digital Ovo Wallet.
  • The study only uses a quantitative approach, and does not consider the qualitative aspects of the use of Digital Ovo Wallet.

Future Research Directions

Future research should consider the following directions:

  • Investigating the impact of other factors, such as security and convenience, on the efficiency of using Digital Ovo Wallet.
  • Conducting a qualitative study to gain a deeper understanding of the user experience and the factors that influence the adoption of financial technology.
  • Investigating the impact of the use of QRIS on the growth of digital transactions and the adoption of financial technology in the ASEAN region.

Conclusion

In conclusion, this study has shown that the perception of ease and benefits has a significant positive impact on the efficiency of using Digital Ovo Wallet. The effect of perception of ease and benefits is not only limited to the efficiency of OVO use, but also has the potential to increase the adoption of financial technology in the community. Therefore, it is essential for service providers such as OVO to continue to improve user experience and strengthen public confidence in the digital payment system so that this growth can be sustainable and bring greater benefits to the economy as a whole.
