Introduction
Nurses and midwives play a vital role in the healthcare system of hospitals, alongside doctors. They act as the frontline in determining the quality of service received by patients, as they interact directly with patients for 24 hours a day. Nurse performance appraisal is an evaluation process that measures and compares individual or group work performance with established standards. One factor that significantly influences the performance of nurses is job satisfaction. Nurses who are satisfied with their jobs tend to be punctual, do not change work, and have a high commitment to the organization's goals.
Background
The healthcare system in hospitals relies heavily on the performance of nurses. Their role is crucial in providing quality care to patients. However, the performance of nurses can be influenced by various factors, including job satisfaction. Methodology
This study employed a quantitative analytic survey with a cross-sectional design to determine the effect of job satisfaction on the performance of nurses in the inpatient unit of Sari Mutiara Lubuk Pakam Hospital. The population consisted of 52 nurses, who were used as samples through the total sampling technique. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis, bivariate analysis with the Pearson correlation test, as well as multivariate analysis with linear regression tests.
Results
The results of this study showed that there were several significant job satisfaction variables that influenced nurses' performance. Based on the Pearson correlation test, these variables include:

- Satisfaction with the job itself

Furthermore, the results of the multivariate analysis using the F test showed that all job satisfaction variables have an influence on the performance of nurses.
