Introduction

Background

Methodology

This study was conducted at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra Medan, in 2001. The experimental area was located at an altitude of 25 meters above sea level. The study involved two main factors: (1) the treatment of various levels of broiler chicken manure, consisting of three levels: 1 kg/plot (IT), 2 kg/plot (T2), and 3 kg/plot (T3); and (2) the cutting interval factor, which also consisted of three levels: cutting 4 times (i1), 3 times (i2), and 2 times (i3). The study used a factorial random group (rack) design.

Results and Analysis

The results of this study showed that the provision of various levels of broiler chicken manure did not have a significant effect on the number of puppies and the dry weight of the king's grass. However, this fertilizer has a very significant effect on the fresh weight of the king's grass. It can be interpreted that although the number of tillers produced is not significantly different in the treatment of different fertilizers, the quality of the grass produced in the form of fresh weight is quite influenced by the level of fertilizer given.

On the other hand, the treatment of cutting intervals has been proven to have a very significant influence on the number of puppies, fresh weight, and dry weight of the king's grass. This shows that the frequency of cutting which can more often can stimulate the growth of puppies and increase production both in terms of fresh and dry weight.

Further analysis of the interaction between fertilizer administration and cutting intervals shows that although the interaction of the two does not significantly affect the fresh weight and dry weight, the interaction is very significant to affect the number of puppies. This illustrates that the combination of appropriate fertilizer and optimal cutting is very important to achieve better grass puppies.

Discussion

The results of this study provide valuable insights into the importance of selecting fertilizer levels and regulating cutting intervals in the cultivation of king's grass. The study shows that the provision of broiler chicken manure has a significant effect on the fresh weight of the king's grass, but not on the number of puppies and dry weight. This suggests that the quality of the grass produced is influenced by the level of fertilizer given.
