Introduction

This study aims to investigate the effect of communication and work competencies on employee performance in the company. By using a descriptive analysis method and multiple linear regression, this study involved 395 employees as a population, with 87 employees selected as samples through proportional random sampling techniques.
Methodology
The primary data collection was carried out through a questionnaire, while secondary data was obtained through literature studies. The questionnaire was designed to gather information on communication and work competencies, as well as employee performance. The data was then analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression to identify the relationship between communication, work competencies, and employee performance.
Results
The results of the study showed that communication and work competencies simultaneously had a positive and significant influence on employee performance at PT. Perkebunan Nusantara III Medan Directors Office. In partial analysis, the two variables also showed similar results, where communication and work competencies have proven to have a positive and significant impact on employee performance. From the results of the analysis, it was found that work competency is the most dominant variable affecting employee performance.
