Distribution And Growth Pattern Of Mangrove Crab Scylla Tranquebaricadi Mangrove Ecosystem Belawan North Sumatra
Distribution and Growth Pattern of Mangrove Crab Scylla Tranquebarica in Belawan Mangrove Ecosystem, North Sumatra
Introduction
Mangrove ecosystems are complex and dynamic environments that support a wide range of biodiversity, including economically and ecologically important species such as the mangrove crab Scylla Tranquebarica. Research on the distribution and growth pattern of mangrove crabs in these ecosystems is crucial for understanding the relationships between physical-chemical characteristics of the habitat and the distribution of these species. This study aims to investigate the relationship between physical-chemical characteristics of the Belawan Mangrove Ecosystem, North Sumatra, and the distribution of mangrove crabs s. Tranquebarica, as well as to understand the growth pattern of these crabs in the study area.
Methodology
This study was conducted in the Belawan Mangrove Ecosystem, North Sumatra, and involved the collection of data on physical-chemical parameters of the habitat, including pH, salinity, nitrate, phosphate, and substrate composition. The data were analyzed using the analysis of main components to identify patterns and groupings of stations based on these parameters. The distribution of mangrove crabs s. Tranquebarica was analyzed using correspondence analysis, while the growth pattern of these crabs was analyzed using linear regression.
Results
The analysis of main components succeeded in grouping three groups of stations based on physical-chemical parameters. The first group consisted of stations I and V, characterized by high levels of nitrate, phosphate, and clay substrate. The second group consisted of stations II and III, characterized by pH of substrate, salinity, and high sand substrate. The third group consisted of station IV, characterized by substrate temperatures and high clay substrates.
The analysis of class and gender distribution showed that male and small male mangrove crabs were abundant in habitats with high levels of nitrate, phosphate, and clay substrate. Large-sized male and female mangrove crabs were distributed to many habitats with substrate pHs, substrate salinity, and high sand substrates. Large male mangrove crabs and medium-sized females were distributed in habitats with high substrate and clay substrate temperatures.
Discussion
The results of this study indicate that the distribution and growth pattern of mangrove crabs s. Tranquebarica in the Belawan Mangrove Ecosystem are influenced by the physical-chemical characteristics of the habitat. Young mangrove crabs (small sized) tend to choose habitats with high clay substrates, possibly because clay substrates are easier to explore and provide safe shelter. Adult male mangrove crabs (large size) tend to choose habitats with high sand substrates, possibly because sand substrates are easier to find food and activities.
This study has important implications for the management and conservation of mangrove ecosystems in Belawan. Monitoring the physical-chemical condition of the habitat and maintenance of substrate quality are crucial for maintaining the sustainability of the mangrove crab population s. Tranquebarica in the Belawan Mangrove Ecosystem.
Conclusion
This study provides valuable information on the distribution and growth pattern of mangrove crabs s. Tranquebarica in the Belawan Mangrove Ecosystem, North Sumatra. The results of this study highlight the importance of considering the physical-chemical characteristics of the habitat in the management and conservation of mangrove ecosystems. The findings of this study can be used to inform conservation and management efforts for the mangrove crab s. Tranquebarica in the Belawan Mangrove Ecosystem.
