Clinical Supervision Relationship With Nurse Job Satisfaction At Medan Hajj Hospital
Clinical Supervision Relationship with Nurse Job Satisfaction at Medan Hajj Hospital
Introduction
Clinical supervision is a crucial aspect of healthcare management that plays a significant role in enhancing the job satisfaction of nurses. The relationship between clinical supervision and nurse job satisfaction has been a topic of interest in various studies, with a focus on understanding the impact of effective clinical supervision on the overall well-being of nurses. This article aims to explore the relationship between clinical supervision and nurse job satisfaction at Medan Hajj Hospital, a leading healthcare institution in Indonesia.
Background
Clinical supervision is a process that involves the guidance and support of experienced healthcare professionals to help nurses develop their skills and knowledge. It encompasses various functions, including educational, supportive, and managerial functions. The educational function of clinical supervision helps nurses develop their skills and knowledge, while the supportive function provides emotional and motivational support. The managerial function ensures that the work process runs smoothly and facilitates the achievement of common goals.
Methodology
This study employed a quantitative research design with a descriptive correlational approach and latitude cutting methods. The study was conducted at Medan Hajj Hospital, involving a population of 131 nurses. A total of 109 nurses were selected as a sample using the total sampling technique. Data collection was done through a survey questionnaire, which was analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis, including the Spearman RHO test.
Results
The results of the study showed that the level of clinical supervision at Medan Hajj Hospital was in the moderate category, with a percentage of 64.2%. Meanwhile, 71.6% of respondents reported being satisfied with their work. The analysis revealed a significant relationship between clinical supervision and nurse job satisfaction, with a value of P = 0.001, which is smaller than 0.05.
Discussion
The findings of this study suggest that the implementation of good clinical supervision has the potential to increase the job satisfaction of nurses. The educational function of clinical supervision helps nurses develop their skills and knowledge, while the supportive function provides emotional and motivational support. The managerial function ensures that the work process runs smoothly and facilitates the achievement of common goals.
The importance of clinical supervision in the context of nurse job satisfaction cannot be ignored. With good supervision, nurses feel valued and supported, which in turn can affect their performance and productivity. Therefore, the sustainability of clinical supervision requires support from health service institutions, to ensure that nurses get adequate guidance and supervision. Through this support, it is hoped that the job satisfaction of nurses can continue to increase, which will have a positive impact on the quality of health services provided to patients.
Conclusion
In conclusion, this study highlights the significance of clinical supervision in enhancing nurse job satisfaction. The findings suggest that the implementation of good clinical supervision has the potential to increase the job satisfaction of nurses. Therefore, hospitals must consider strategies to strengthen clinical supervision, including training for the head of space to carry out their role effectively. By doing so, hospitals can ensure that nurses receive adequate guidance and supervision, which will have a positive impact on the quality of health services provided to patients.
