Pantai Mutiara, a popular tourist destination located in Serdang Bedagai Regency, North Sumatra, is a charming beach that directly faces the Malacca Strait. However, this beach is not just a place of recreation; it is also a meeting point between the sea and land that experiences constant changes in its form, size, and material. These changes are generally caused by natural factors and, in recent years, the phenomenon of sea level increases that cause erosion. In this final project, the authors examine the potential increase in sea level and its impact on the setbacks of the coastline and the width of the coastal border.

Coastal profile modeling is a crucial tool in analyzing the setback of the coastline. The method applied in this study is the Bruun schematic, which serves to predict coastal erosion based on sea level rise. This method is essential in understanding how coastal profile modeling can be used to analyze the setback of the coastline and its impact on the width of the coastal border.
The Impact of Sea Level Rise on Pantai Mutiara
Based on the data obtained, the maximum erosion on Mutiara beach has reached 6,058 meters when the coastline has set a setback of 0.288 meters. Meanwhile, at a 1,684 meter coastline, there was a maximum erosion of 7,454 meters. This finding shows that Pantai Mutiara has a very high level of vulnerability to erosion caused by an increase in sea level. The data also suggests that the beach is expected to experience a setback of around 8.74 meters if the increase in sea levels occurs at a rate of 0.0015 meters per year. However, in the worst scenario with an increase in sea level of 0.0086 meters per year, this beach can experience setbacks of up to 50.14 meters.

Seeing the impact of rising sea levels and coastal erosion, it is essential for the government and the community to pay attention to the right mitigation steps.
