Introduction

Nutrition plays a vital role in the growth and development of toddlers, and its importance cannot be overstated. Unfortunately, Indonesia still faces significant challenges in ensuring the nutritional well-being of its children, particularly in the midst of the pandemic that has disrupted the economic conditions of the community. This study aims to evaluate the nutritional status of children aged 0 to 60 months at the Sipultak Health Center, Pagaran District, North Tapanuli Regency in 2020. The primary objective of this research is to identify the nutritional condition of toddlers and provide recommendations for improvement.

Background

Nutrition in toddlers is crucial for their physical growth and brain intelligence. A well-nourished child is more likely to develop into a healthy and intelligent individual. However, the problem of nutrition in Indonesia is still a significant challenge, with many children suffering from malnutrition and related health issues. The pandemic has further exacerbated this problem, making it essential to address the nutritional needs of toddlers.

Methodology

The method used in this study is K-Means Clustering, a technique commonly used in data analysis to group data into several categories. In this study, the nutritional status of toddlers is divided into four categories: malnutrition, malnutrition, good nutrition, and more nutrition. The K-Means Clustering method was applied to the data collected from the Sipultak Health Center, and the results were analyzed to identify the nutritional status of toddlers.

Results

The results of the analysis showed that there were 2 toddlers who were in the category of malnutrition (cluster 1), 12 toddlers with malnutrition (cluster 2), 43 toddlers with good nutritional status (cluster 3), and 33 toddlers with more nutrition (cluster 4). The results indicate that there are still groups that need more attention from the health party, particularly those suffering from malnutrition.

The existence of 2 toddlers in the category of malnutrition indicates that there are still groups that need more attention from the health party. On the other hand, the number of toddlers with good nutritional status and more high nutrition shows that most people may have begun to pay attention to the nutritional needs of their children.

By knowing the proportion of toddlers in each category, health workers can focus more on providing direction and education to parents, so they are expected to reduce malnutrition and lack in the future.

In conclusion, this research shows that the nutritional status of toddlers at the Sipultak Health Center needs serious attention from related parties. Through sustainable monitoring and the application of the right intervention strategy, it is hoped that the nutritional status of toddlers can be improved to achieve a healthier and more intelligent future for future generations.
