Observed parameters included the frequency of diarrhea, consistency and feces weight, initial diarrhea, and diarrhea duration. Observations were made every 30 minutes for six hours after treatment, and the results were analyzed using the ANOVA test followed by the Tukey HSD test.

The results showed that the Barangan banana peel extract at a dose of 200 mg/kg BW and 400 mg/kg BW had a significant antidiarrheal effect. The dose of 400 mg/kg BW shows the best effectiveness among other doses. The Tukey HSD test shows that the dose of 400 mg/kg BW is not significantly different (p> 0.05) compared to positive control (Loperamide HCl), but significantly different (p <0.05) from negative control (CMC Na 1%).

Conclusion

From the results of this study, it can be concluded that the ethanol extract of banana skin barangan with a dose of 200 mg/kg BW and 400 mg/kg BW has a promising antidiarrheal effect. This finding provides important information for the development of alternative therapies for diarrhea, especially from natural sources that are rich in bioactive compounds.
