Introduction
In the pursuit of increasing agricultural productivity, the need for fuel for water pumps is a crucial factor for farmers in Perbaungan District, Serdang Bedagai Regency. The high price of fuel and difficulties experienced by farmers to obtain the necessary fuel to drive water pumps are significant inhibiting factors for increasing agricultural products. This study aims to determine the actual amount of water pump needs and predict the fuel requirement for water pumps with sizes of 2 inches, 3 inches, 4 inches, and 6 inches used to water rice land.
Background
The agricultural sector plays a vital role in the economy of Perbaungan District, Serdang Bedagai Regency. The district's agricultural sector is primarily focused on rice cultivation, which is a significant source of income for farmers. However, the increasing demand for rice and the limited availability of water resources have led to the use of water pumps to irrigate rice fields. The use of water pumps has become a necessity for farmers to increase their agricultural productivity.
Methodology
The research method used in this analysis is a trend line analysis model, which utilizes primary data from farmers' samples and secondary data from related institutions. The primary data was collected through a survey of farmers in Perbaungan District, while the secondary data was obtained from related institutions such as the Department of Agriculture and the District Government.
Results
The results of the analysis showed that in 2007, the number of available water pumps reached 233 units with a total fuel requirement of 15,431.32 liters. The costs incurred for the fuel reached Rp. 70,816,646.83. Meanwhile, for the projected needs in 2008, the number of water pumps is estimated to increase to 288 units with a total fuel requirement of 19,571.66 liters and the total fuel cost reached Rp 89,863,326.32.

The projection of water pump needs shows a significant increase, which of course affects the fuel needs. Forecasting is carried out using a maximum feasibility value of 4 and a minimum -4 gives a clear picture of fluctuations in future needs. In this context, it is essential for the government and related parties to create policies that support the availability and price of fuel so that farmers can operate efficiently.

The importance of this analysis not only lies in the provision of fuel needs, but also in the development of sustainable agricultural strategies that can help improve the local economy.
