Analysis of the Effect of the Work Environment, Discipline and Teacher Professional Allowance on Teacher Performance in the Toba Samosir District Education Office

Introduction

Human resources (HR) play a vital role in an organization's success. The ability, energy, and creativity of individuals are the key to achieving the organization's goals. However, existing human resources will not have a significant impact if not managed properly. Therefore, an effective managerial approach is needed to ensure that human resources can contribute optimally. In this context, this research focuses on the analysis of the influence of the work environment, discipline, and professional allowance on teacher performance in the Toba Samosir District Education Office.

Background of the Study

Teacher performance in the Toba Samosir District Education Office still does not meet expectations. Many teachers face various obstacles in carrying out their duties, so that their performance becomes less optimal. The lack of a supportive work environment, inadequate discipline, and insufficient professional benefits are some of the factors that contribute to this issue. Therefore, it is essential to understand and analyze the factors that influence teacher performance, especially the work environment, discipline, and professional benefits.

Methodology

This study uses a survey with quantitative descriptive methods to analyze the influence of the work environment, discipline, and professional allowance on teacher performance. The population of this study consists of 360 teachers in the Toba Samosir District Education Office. A total of 190 teachers were chosen as research samples. Data collection methods include interviews, questionnaire distribution, and documentation studies. The data collected was then analyzed statistically using multiple linear regression with the help of the SPSS program.

Data Analysis

The results of the analysis showed that simultaneously and partially, the work environment, discipline, and professional allowance had a positive and significant influence on teacher performance. Among the three variables, discipline is proven to be the most dominant variable affecting teacher performance. The coefficient of determination (adjusted R square) obtained from this study is 74.2%. This shows that the work environment variable, discipline, and professional allowance can explain the performance of teachers in the Toba Samosir District Education Office up to 74.2%. Meanwhile, the remaining 25.8% of teacher performance is explained by other variables that are not examined in this study.

Discussion

The results of this study emphasize the importance of creating a supporting work environment, increasing the discipline of teachers, and providing proper professional benefits to encourage their performance. A supportive work environment can motivate teachers to perform their duties optimally. Discipline is also essential in maintaining a positive and productive work environment. Professional benefits, such as salaries and allowances, can also motivate teachers to perform their duties effectively.

Implications

The results of this study provide implications for policy makers in the field of education to design programs that can improve the quality of human resources in the Toba Samosir District Education Office. These programs can include creating a supportive work environment, increasing the discipline of teachers, and providing proper professional benefits. By implementing these programs, teacher performance can be increased in a sustainable manner, and the hope to achieve better educational goals in this area can be realized.
