Analysis of the Effect of Credit Distribution and Consumption on Increasing Economic Growth in Binjai City
Introduction
The level of wealth of an area is reflected in the level and pattern of consumption. In addition, the development of lending by financial institutions also has an impact on the wealth and economic growth in the region. This study aims to analyze the effect of lending and consumption on increasing economic growth in the city of Binjai. The city of Binjai is a rapidly growing urban area in Indonesia, and understanding the factors that contribute to its economic growth is crucial for policymakers and business leaders.
Literature Review
Previous studies have shown that credit distribution and consumption have a significant impact on economic growth. Credit allows individuals and businesses to invest and consume, which in turn stimulates aggregate demand and encourages economic growth. However, the relationship between credit distribution and consumption is complex, and various factors can influence the outcome. This study aims to contribute to the existing literature by analyzing the effect of credit distribution and consumption on economic growth in the city of Binjai.
Methodology
This study used the time series data in 1987-2007 and the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method to analyze the effect of lending and consumption on economic growth in the city of Binjai. The data was collected from various sources, including the Central Bank of Indonesia and the city government of Binjai. The OLS method was used to estimate the relationship between the independent variables (credit distribution and consumption) and the dependent variable (economic growth).
Results
The results of this study showed that the coefficient of determination was 0.98, which means that the independent variable can explain 98% of the dependent variable, while the remaining 2% is explained by other variables that are not included in the estimated model. F statistics are higher than table F (8,402848> 6.01) which means that credit and consumption together have a significant effect on increasing the economic growth of the city of Binjai at a 99% confidence level.
For credit variables, the T-count value is higher than T-table (9,183482> 2,878), which means that credit has a significant effect on increasing economic growth at a 99% confidence level. Likewise with the consumption variable, the T-count value is higher than T-table (5,720076> 2,870) which means that consumption has a significant effect on increasing economic growth in the city of Binjai at a 99% confidence level.
Discussion
The results of this study indicate that both credit and consumption distribution have an important role in encouraging the economic growth of the city of Binjai. This can be understood because credit allows the public and business actors to invest and higher consumption. Increased consumption will then encourage aggregate demand and encourage economic growth.
Suggestion
Based on the results of this study, here are some suggestions that can be considered to increase economic growth in the city of Binjai:
Increasing Access to Credit
Increasing access to credit for the community and business actors can encourage investment and consumption, thus stimulating economic growth. This can be done by facilitating the credit application process, lowering interest rates, and developing more innovative credit programs.
Increasing Community Purchasing Power
Increasing people's purchasing power can be done through programs that increase revenue and employment opportunities. This can be done through training programs, MSME development, and improving infrastructure that supports economic activities.
Improving the Quality of Human Resources
High quality of human resources is needed to support sustainable economic growth. This can be done through quality education and training programs.
Increasing Infrastructure Investment
Adequate infrastructure investment can increase economic efficiency and competitiveness. This can be done through the development of transportation, communication and energy infrastructure.
Conclusion
By paying attention to the factors that have been analyzed in this study, it is hoped that the city of Binjai can continue to increase its economic growth and achieve better welfare of society. The results of this study provide valuable insights for policymakers and business leaders to develop strategies that can stimulate economic growth in the city of Binjai.
Limitation
This study has some limitations that need to be addressed in future research. Firstly, the data used in this study is limited to the period of 1987-2007, and future research can use more recent data to analyze the effect of credit distribution and consumption on economic growth in the city of Binjai. Secondly, this study only analyzed the effect of credit distribution and consumption on economic growth, and future research can analyze the effect of other factors on economic growth in the city of Binjai.
Future Research
Future research can build on the findings of this study by analyzing the effect of other factors on economic growth in the city of Binjai. Some potential areas of research include:
- Analyzing the effect of other macroeconomic variables, such as inflation and interest rates, on economic growth in the city of Binjai.
