Analysis of the Effect of Lecturer Certification Fund and Education and Training on the Performance of Lecturer in the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of North Sumatra
Introduction
The performance of lecturers in higher education institutions is a crucial factor in determining the quality of education provided to students. In the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (MIPA) of the University of North Sumatra, lecturer performance is influenced by various factors, including certification funds and education and training. This study aims to analyze the effect of lecturer certification funds and education and training on the performance of lecturers in the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of North Sumatra.
The Importance of Lecturer Certification Fund
Lecturer certification funds are one of the incentives given to lecturers who have met certain requirements. This funding is expected to increase the motivation and enthusiasm of lecturers in carrying out their duties, which in turn will have a positive impact on teaching performance and research. In the context of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, the provision of certification funds can encourage lecturers to be more active in conducting research, improve the quality of teaching, and increase their involvement in other academic activities.
The Role of Education and Training
In addition to certification, education and training funds also play an important role in improving lecturer performance. Through various training programs, lecturers can obtain new knowledge and skills that are relevant to their field of study. This training not only enriches the competency of lecturers, but also gives them the opportunity to collaborate and exchange ideas with fellow academics. The results showed that education and training have a significant positive impact on lecturer performance, because it helps them to remain updated with the latest development of science and technology.
Methodology
This study used a quantitative approach, with a population of all certified lecturers at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, totaling 120 people. Of these, 55 respondents were selected using the saturated sampling method. Primary data were obtained through a questionnaire, which was then analyzed using multiple linear regression methods, as well as F test and t test.
Results
The analysis shows that the variables of lecturer and education and training certification funds have a significant and partial significant influence on the performance of the Lecturer in the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of North Sumatra. The results indicate that the management of certification funds and education and training programs for lecturers at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of North Sumatra is very important.
Implications of Research Results
The results of this study indicate that the management of certification funds and education and training programs for lecturers at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of North Sumatra is very important. Institutions need to ensure that certification funds are managed effectively and that relevant and quality training programs are available for lecturers. Thus, lecturer performance can be increased, which in turn can contribute to improving the quality of education in the University of North Sumatra.
Conclusion
Overall, this research gives a clear picture of the factors that influence the performance of lecturers. By utilizing certification funds and providing appropriate education and training, it is hoped that the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences can produce higher quality lecturers and is committed to improving education in Indonesia.
