by ADMIN 61 views

Introduction

The North Aceh Regency is one of the major rice-producing regions in Indonesia, with a significant portion of the country's rice production coming from this area. However, despite its importance, the region still faces significant productivity gaps among its rice-producing sub-districts. This study aims to analyze the income and feasibility of rice farming in North Aceh Regency, as well as identify the factors that influence rice production and cause differences in productivity in the area.

Methodology

The data used in this study are cross-section data taken in February 2012, based on the 2011 planting season. The analysis method applied includes the farming analysis approach, multiple regression analysis, and ANOVA, with the help of SPSS 16.0 software. The study was conducted in early 2012, with the main purpose of analyzing income and feasibility of rice farming in North Aceh Regency.

Results

The results of the analysis showed that the farm of rice fields in North Aceh Regency turned out to be profitable and feasible to be further developed. In Sawang District, rice production is influenced by the number of workers deployed. Conversely, in the District of Meurah Mulia, the factors that influence production include agricultural land area, as well as the use of fertilizers such as urea, SP-36, and KCl. Meanwhile, in Tanah Pasir District, rice production is greatly influenced by the quality of the seeds used and the number of available labor.

Factors Influencing Rice Production

The results of the study also identified several factors that influence rice production in North Aceh Regency. These factors include:

  • Variations in the use of quality seeds: The use of high-quality seeds can greatly contribute to crop yields.
  • Level of pests and diseases: The level of pests and diseases can reduce productivity and affect crop yields.
  • Activeness of farmers in participating in extension programs: The activeness of farmers in participating in extension programs can greatly affect the improvement of better agricultural engineering.
  • Geographical conditions: Geographical conditions such as soil quality and water availability also play a role in determining the success of rice production in each district.

Implications for Policy and Practice

The results of this study have several implications for policy and practice. Firstly, it is essential for the government and related parties to pay more attention to training and counseling programs for farmers. Optimizing the use of superior seeds and the right fertilizer can also be a strategy to increase productivity. In addition, mitigation of pests and diseases must be carried out on an ongoing basis to maintain the health of plants.

Conclusion

In conclusion, this study provides valuable insights into the income and feasibility of rice farming in North Aceh Regency. The results of the study highlight the importance of several factors that influence rice production, including variations in the use of quality seeds, level of pests and diseases, activeness of farmers in participating in extension programs, and geographical conditions. The study also provides recommendations for policy and practice, including the need for training and counseling programs for farmers, optimization of the use of superior seeds and the right fertilizer, and mitigation of pests and diseases.

Recommendations for Future Research

This study provides several recommendations for future research. Firstly, further research is needed to investigate the impact of climate change on rice production in North Aceh Regency. Secondly, research is needed to investigate the effectiveness of different extension programs in improving agricultural productivity. Finally, research is needed to investigate the impact of different agricultural policies on rice production in North Aceh Regency.

Limitations of the Study

This study has several limitations. Firstly, the study was conducted in a specific region, and the results may not be generalizable to other regions. Secondly, the study relied on secondary data, which may not be accurate or up-to-date. Finally, the study did not investigate the impact of other factors that may influence rice production, such as market prices and government policies.
