Analysis Of Land Transportation Feasibility In PT PQR Logistics Industry Based On Occupational Safety And Health Management System (SMK3)
The Importance of Logistics Industry in Meeting Demands
In an era where the need for goods is increasing along with population growth, the logistics industry plays an important role in meeting these demands. The logistics industry is a backbone of the economy, and its efficiency has a direct impact on the overall economic growth. Ease of conducting transactions, both online and offline, is driven by increasingly sophisticated technological developments. However, this increased transportation activity also carries its own challenges, especially in terms of safety on the road. According to data from the National Police Korlantas, around 61% of traffic accidents in Indonesia are caused by human factors, 9% by vehicle factors, and 30% by infrastructure and the environment. The most common accident was a motorcycle accident, followed by accidents in transportation of goods.
The Need for Feasibility Analysis in Land Transportation
This study aims to analyze the feasibility of land transportation in PT PQR based on the Minister of Transportation Regulation No. 85 of 2018. The eligibility of land transportation does not only have an impact on the company's operational efficiency, but can also contribute to the increase or decrease in traffic accidents. Transportation feasibility assessment is a crucial step in ensuring the safety of road users. Transportation feasibility assessment is carried out by referring to established regulations and is equipped with a checklist data regarding the feasibility of each vehicle.
Research Methodology
This study involved the feasibility analysis of 40 vehicles used by PT PQR for six months, from Monday to Saturday. Data is taken from various aspects of the vehicle, including the outside, engine room, bottom, interior, and road test results. Each category is assessed based on the criteria set in the Minister of Transportation Regulation.
Data Collection and Analysis
The data collection process involved a thorough inspection of each vehicle, including the outside, engine room, bottom, interior, and road test results. The data was then analyzed based on the criteria set in the Minister of Transportation Regulation. The results of the analysis are presented in the following sections.

Additional Analysis and Explanation
From the results above, it can be seen that the majority of PT PQR vehicles are in a suitable condition to operate. However, there is a proportion of vehicles that are declared inappropriate or very inappropriate to show the need for more attention in the maintenance and maintenance of vehicles. High accident rates in transportation of goods can be reduced by ensuring all fleets are in optimal conditions. Occupational Safety and Health Management System (SMK3) is important in this context. By implementing SMK3, PT PQR can create a safe work environment for drivers and other road users. This not only protects lives, but also minimizes financial losses due to accidents that can have an impact on the company's image.
Conclusion
The feasibility of land transportation at PT PQR shows that most vehicles are in good condition to operate. However, routine repairs and maintenance need to be done to ensure safety in shipping goods. Therefore, the implementation of strict SMK3 will help PT PQR not only in meeting the standard of transportation feasibility but also increases the safety on the highway, so as to minimize accidents and their impact.
Recommendations
Based on the findings of this study, the following recommendations are made:
- PT PQR should implement a regular maintenance program to ensure that all vehicles are in optimal condition.
- The company should also implement a strict SMK3 to create a safe work environment for drivers and other road users.
- The company should provide training to drivers on safe driving practices and the importance of regular vehicle maintenance.
- The company should also consider investing in new vehicles that are equipped with advanced safety features.
Limitations of the Study
This study has several limitations, including:
- The study only analyzed 40 vehicles used by PT PQR for six months.
- The study only considered the feasibility of land transportation and did not take into account other modes of transportation.
- The study only analyzed the data from the outside, engine room, bottom, interior, and road test results, and did not consider other factors that may affect the feasibility of land transportation.
Future Research Directions
Future research should consider the following directions:
- Conducting a more comprehensive analysis of the feasibility of land transportation, including other modes of transportation.
- Analyzing the impact of SMK3 on the safety of road users.
- Conducting a study on the economic impact of accidents on the logistics industry.
By implementing these recommendations and conducting further research, PT PQR can ensure that its land transportation operations are safe, efficient, and compliant with regulations.
