Introduction

Toba Regency, located at an altitude of 900-2200 meters above sea level, is a region with a growing population of 206,199 people in 2020. As the population continues to increase, the need for basic needs and settlement areas becomes more pressing. In order to make informed decisions in regional planning, research on changes in land cover is crucial. This study aims to analyze the changes in land cover in Toba Regency from 2014 to 2022 using the Google Earth Engine platform.

The results of the study show that the largest land cover class is natural forest, covering an area of 122,542 hectares, or around 61.13% of the total area of Toba Regency. The class of land cover with the smallest area is water bodies, which only covers an area of 103.07 hectares, or around 0.05% of the total area.
