Introduction

Rice production is a vital component of food security and the economy of local communities in Southeast Aceh Regency. The region's rice production has been a significant contributor to the local economy, and its impact on food security cannot be overstated. However, the factors that influence rice production in the region are complex and multifaceted. This study aims to identify the various factors that affect rice production in Southeast Aceh Regency, including land area, working hours, number of workers, use of fertilizers, pesticides, and the quality of seeds or seeds. Additionally, this research seeks to understand the relationship between the optimum grain selling price and the price of fertilizer input in force in the region.

Methodology

This study employed a multiple linear regression model as the analytical method. Primary data were collected through surveys using a questionnaire, involving 120 rice farmers as respondents. The data collected were analyzed to identify the factors that influence rice production in the region.

Results

The results of this study showed that, partially, only land area variables and the number of workers had a positive and significant influence on rice production. This means that the wider the managed land and the more the number of workers involved, the rice production tends to increase. However, the variable time of work and the use of fertilizer, although it gives a positive effect, does not show a significant effect on production. This may be caused by the effectiveness of the use of fertilizer that is not optimal or lack of farmers' understanding of good fertilization.

On the other hand, the use of pesticides actually shows significant but negative results. This could be caused by the use of excessive pesticides, which can damage the agricultural ecosystem and reduce the quality of the harvest.

Simultaneous Analysis

From simultaneous analysis, all considered variables have a significant effect on rice production, with the ability of these variables to explain the variation of rice production of 78.7%. This shows that there are other factors that play a role in influencing rice production, which is not detected in this study, with a contribution of 21.3%.

Economic Analysis

From the economic side, this study found that the maximum profit that could be achieved by rice farmers in Southeast Aceh Regency was obtained by the use of fertilizer as much as 131.89 kg and the selling price of grain around Rp.3,951.13. With an average production of 1,820.42 kg, farmers can reach a profit of Rp.6,731,101.07. This shows that optimizing the use of input, both fertilizer and work management, is very important to increase farmers' income.

Conclusion

Overall, the results of this study provide a clear picture of the factors that influence rice production in Southeast Aceh Regency. These findings are not only beneficial for farmers to increase production yields, but can also be a reference for policy makers in formulating programs that support increased agricultural productivity in the region. Thus, this research becomes an important step in an effort towards more sustainable and beneficial agriculture for local communities.

Recommendations

Based on the findings of this study, the following recommendations are made:

  • Rice farmers in Southeast Aceh Regency should optimize the use of fertilizer and work management to increase their income.
  • Policy makers should formulate programs that support increased agricultural productivity in the region, taking into account the factors that influence rice production.
  • Further research should be conducted to identify other factors that play a role in influencing rice production in the region.

Limitations of the Study

This study has several limitations, including:

  • The sample size of 120 rice farmers may not be representative of the entire population of rice farmers in Southeast Aceh Regency.
  • The study only considered a few factors that influence rice production, and other factors may have been overlooked.
  • The study did not consider the impact of climate change on rice production in the region.

Future Research Directions

Future research should focus on:

  • Identifying other factors that play a role in influencing rice production in Southeast Aceh Regency.
  • Conducting a more comprehensive analysis of the factors that influence rice production, including the impact of climate change.
  • Developing programs that support increased agricultural productivity in the region, taking into account the factors that influence rice production.

Conclusion

In conclusion, this study provides a clear picture of the factors that influence rice production in Southeast Aceh Regency. The findings of this study are beneficial for farmers to increase production yields and can also be a reference for policy makers in formulating programs that support increased agricultural productivity in the region.
