Las work is one of the informal industry sectors that is often not equipped with adequate facilities related to occupational safety and health. The welding process is not an easy job, especially because of a very high risk of physical hazards. One of the most serious threats in welding is the very high intensity of welding light, which can negatively impact vision, especially when the eye experiences fatigue. Eye fatigue occurs when the eye muscles and nerves of the eye experience fatigue due to prolonged tension. This condition can lead to various problems, such as blurred vision, headache, to concentration disorders, and can worsen the quality of workers' life and potentially increase the risk of work accidents.

Research Methodology

Descriptive Research Methods

This study aims to describe the condition of eye fatigue in welding workers in the City of Matsum I in 2022. In this study, descriptive research methods were used to measure the condition of eye fatigue among workers in the welding workshop in the Matsum City Kota Village, Medan Area District. The research sample consists of 30 welding workers who are all used as respondents. To measure eye fatigue, this study uses a measuring instrument called Flicker Fusion Device, while data analysis is carried out through univariate analysis.

Prevalence of Eye Fatigue among Welding Workers

The results showed that 22 people (73.33%) of respondents experienced eye fatigue, while 8 people (26.66%) did not experience eye fatigue. This finding shows the high prevalence of eye fatigue among welding workers, which has the potential to disrupt their productivity and health in the long run.
